There was a time in my life when I was the one who needed support. After a serious injury, I found myself depending on others for things I had always taken for granted — getting through the day, moving around, basic daily tasks. It was humbling, and at times it was frightening.

What I remember most from that time was not the clinical side of my recovery — it was how the people around me made me feel. The carers and nurses who treated me with genuine dignity, who showed up on time, who actually listened — they made an enormous difference to my recovery and my sense of self.

And the ones who did not — well, they showed me exactly what was missing in the industry.

That experience never left me. When I qualified as a nurse and began working in disability and aged care, I carried it with me every single day. It is why I founded Everyday Nursing Care — because I believe every person deserves the kind of care that made a difference for me. Professional, reliable, and genuinely human.
